RVH’s Site Selection Committee began with a 225 square kilometer area in Innisfil and south Barrie where almost 50 potential sites were assessed.
Those sites fell, generally into four zones:
- Zone 1: the Highway 400 corridor
- Zone 2: South Barrie
- Zone 3: Yonge St. corridor, south of Stroud
- Zone 4: 6th line and Yonge St.
The search process was comprehensive and transparent. Technical experts assessed the sites using 23 mandatory and desirable criteria and over 2,000 data points.
They also analyzed the potential impacts on:
- Road and air traffic
- Parking
- Soil studies
- Noise
- Air quality, and
- Natural heritage – things like wetlands and woodlots.
RVH also consulted the community.
Since 2018, we have logged an unprecedented 57,000 engagement interactions and community consultation will continue.
Community feedback has informed all aspects of RVH’s expansion plan, including the South Campus location, building design and clinical services that will be offered.
